Bruce has been in pound kennels for a period of time, SSR have offered him a place with us.
Bruce has recently came to SSR, he has spent a few days in kennels and is now in a foster home in Edinburgh.
Bruce is such a happy and friendly boy, he loves humans and getting a good scratch. At the moment he is very quiet, he has not had much of a life in 2 years, but he will start to come out his shell as time goes on and he becomes more confident.
Bruce loves his food and is food motivated, which will help with training. He doesn't have much training at all, so this will start in the Foster Home but any home will need to continue his training.
Bruce loves to take in the world, he loves teddys and fluffy blankets to sleep and snuggle into.
Bruce has tested well with dogs, he has been with another dog and had a play. He has walked past dogs in kennels with no reaction, he is currently in foster with 3 other dogs so we will update as he settles in.
Bruce doesn't seem to know what toys are yet.
Bruce is in good health and is neutered, Bruce will be chipped and vaccinated.
Bruce loves his walks and walks well on the lead, he can be strong but takes direction well when on the lead. Bruce enjoys his walks and is neutral around dogs, he is happy to walk past if barking at him and doesn't react. Bruce hasn't be walked much with being in the pound, so will need to build up his walking.
Bruce loves being in the car and travels very well.
A secure garden would be a plus.
Committed to further training.
Somebody at home to begin with - we don't know what Bruce is like being left.

Home Requirements
An active owner
More about Cookie
Cookie is looking for an active owner who have had dogs before. She will need to be kept company all day until she settles into a well-established routine. She requires an adult only home where she will be the only pet.
Cookie is a sweet girl who can be a bit shy and vocal towards people she doesn’t know but does warm up quickly if allowed to say hello at her own pace. She does become attached to her favourite people quickly and struggles if they leave her so she will need an owner who are patient and committed to working on this with her.
Cookie enjoys her walks with other dogs and she can have doggy friends out and about, but she has shown that she does not always want to share her people or food around them so will only be suited as an only pet. She is full of energy and loves chasing after a tennis ball so would probably love to have an activity to do to keep her busy mind occupied. Cookie’s coat will require regular grooming; however, this is something she isn’t comfortable with. Her new owners will need to build up a positive association with being groomed.

Archie – Loyal, Loving, and Ready for Adventure!
Archie is a handsome Collie with plenty of love to give! While he has lived with other dogs in the past, we have found that he can be reactive, so he may be best suited as the only dog in the home. His reaction to cats is unknown.
Archie is both housetrained and crate trained. He enjoys his walks, though he can pull on the lead and may feel uneasy when approached by strangers. He knows several basic commands and is eager to learn, but he isn’t a fan of car travel.
Archie is looking for a patient and understanding owner who can continue his training and help him build confidence.
History
Archie was handed into the centre for rehoming due to change in circumstances.
Re-homing Criteria
Archie is looking for an active and experienced collie home that can provide him with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. He thrives on attention and would love a family that can keep him engaged with training, playtime, and exercise. As Archie has been around children before, we can consider homes with older children who understand how to interact respectfully with dogs. However, he would likely be happiest as the only dog in the home. A home with Collie or herding breed experience would be beneficial, as Archie will do best with someone who understands his needs. Archie is a dog who just loves to be out and about , loves his walks , he is not a once around the block sorta guy ! A full toy box and plenty of enrichment activities will keep him happy! If you think you can offer Archie the loving and stimulating home he needs, we’d love to hear from you!

All energy, all love – Jack’s the full package!
Jack is a high-energy Border Collie who thrives on activity and stimulation. He has previously lived with older children and teenagers and could happily do so again in the right home. Jack has also lived with cats and can be playful indoors, but he may chase outdoors, so any resident cat would need to be confident and dog-savvy. On the lead, Jack can be reactive to other dogs, but he has enjoyed positive off-lead interactions with dogs at the centre. He is housetrained, travels well in the car, and is comfortable being left alone for a few hours.
History
Jack was handed into the centre due to a change in his owners’ circumstances.
Re-homing Criteria
Jack can be nervous when meeting new people, particularly men, and will need a calm, patient owner willing to take the time to build his confidence. He could live with older children or teens, a confident, dog-savvy cat, and possibly another friendly dog with careful introductions. Jack requires an active, breed-experienced home—ideally with someone who enjoys hiking, agility, or flyball. A secure garden is essential, as he tends to chase when off-lead and still needs work on his recall.
His new family must be committed to supporting him with his lead reactivity and helping him feel more at ease around strangers.
Jack has so much potential – he just needs the right person to help him shine!

A very sweet soul looking for a family to call her own.
Stella is a pleasure to be around. She loves walks, playing in the snuffle wood here at the centre and a cuddle on the couch. She has never lived with cats so we are unsure how she would react to them but her previous owners have told us she was good with older children and ok around some other dogs.
History
Stella is looking for a fresh start due to a change in personal circumstances in her previous home.
Re-homing Criteria
Stella is an amazing girl who is full of so much love to give ! Stella is looking for an active home as she just loves to be out and about walking and exploring new areas! A home with a fully secure garden is a must. With sensible introductions at the centre Stella could possibly live with a calm neutered male dog in the household but we would be looking for a cat free enviroment for her. We would only really consider homes with dog savvy children over the age of 8 years due to her her habit of forgetting her size sometimes . Stella absolutely loves company so someone who is around most of the day and has lots of time to spend with her would be ideal! This gorgeous girl loves to play and run about but then she is also at her happiest when she is snuggled in beside you for some cuddles ! Stella weighs in at about 34kg at the moment , but do not let that put you off.... that's just 34kg of pure love she has to give !

OLIVER
Male
6 years
Oliver has sadly been returned to our care, after almost 4 years in a home, through absolutely no fault of his own (change of circumstances).
He is 6 years old, quite small for a boy and is a friendly, happy boy. Ideally we want his stay in kennels to be as short as possible as he has been used to his home comforts.
Oliver is fine with other greyhounds and is trainable to be around other breeds.
He really deserves another chance.

Breed: Misha
Sex: Female
Age: 11 years
Key information: Friendly girl looking for a retirement home. Adult only home and no visiting kids. Can live with a cat and would like to be the only dog in the house.
Misha is a sweet and friendly girl, she loves to be petted and will happily sit next to you on the couch all night if you let her. Misha has been loved and cared for all her life, she has sadly found herself looking for her new home due to her owner passing away.
Misha may be an older girl but she is still very spritely, she enjoys a walk, investigating in the garden and playing with her favorite toys.
Misha is well behaved at home, she is happy being left alone for a couple of hours, house-trained and enjoys a trip away in the car.
Misha is looking for an adult only household with no visiting children, she is worried by children and prefers to keep away from them. She loves being the centre of attention and does not want to share her home with another dog, she will however walk past dogs on a walk outside but if they get too close she may tell them off.
Misha loves food but is a fussy girl, she has become accustom to the finer foods and isn’t keen on regular dog food, she is definitely a girl who knows what she likes and what she doesn’t.
if you think you could offer Misha a home, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Fabulous Flynn!
Meet Flynn — a happy, energetic boy who is every inch the classic spaniel! Always smiling and full of enthusiasm, Flynn loves people and is guaranteed to brighten your day.
He’s a very active lad who thrives on getting outdoors and loves nothing more than heading out for long adventures. Flynn was house-trained in his previous home and keeps his kennel clean here. As well as physical exercise, Flynn needs plenty of mental stimulation to keep his sharp mind occupied.
History
Flynn was originally rehomed from us but was sadly returned due to behavioural challenges in the home.
Re-homing Criteria
Flynn has been assessed by a behaviourist, and his new family MUST be willing to follow a guidance plan that will be provided. Flynn uses toys to soothe his anxiety and should always have access to safe toys in the home. It is very important that toys or items are never forcibly taken from him. A calm, gentle approach to handling is essential to help Flynn feel safe and supported, and to prevent any anxiety-related behaviours.
Flynn is looking for a calm, patient, and experienced home. His new family must have experience with working spaniels or high-energy breeds. Flynn would need a secure garden where he can safely explore and play. He could live with another friendly dog after successful introductions at the centre. We do not know how Flynn would respond to cats. Due to his behavioural needs, we are looking for a child-free home.
Flynn needs more than a once around the block for his daily routine, he is a high energy boy who just loves being out and about. He needs a home that can keep his body and mind active.
Flynn needs stability, a lot of patience, and understanding to continue building his confidence. His ideal home will be quiet, structured, and filled with love. Flynn is a wonderful, clever, and affectionate dog who is ready for his second chance — could that be with you?

Kyogo arrived with his brother Marshall after their owner died.
Kyogo hasn't had much in the way of formal training so is working with our dog trainer to practice lead manners and being less dog reactive.
He could live with kids from maybe 8 years of age but he's got no manners and sometimes knocks folk over.

Willow is 10 years of age but Willow does not care for age, she is as fit as a fiddle and as agile as cat! Willo can and will scale 6ft fences and so a gardenless home is probably a safe option for her.
She has lived with other dogs but needs introduction to new dogs as she's quite the terrier in that if she likes you, you're sound, but if she doesn't you're getting a mouthful - of abuse or teeth!

Friendly girl with a great nature.
This is the very playful, happy and sweet Frankie. She loves everyone she meets and walks perfectly on the lead.
We have no history on Frankie but due to her great nature we believe she would be perfectly happy around older kids.
We will be looking for a home without cats but she seems relaxed around other dogs here at the centre so she coud live with another dog.
History
Frankie is a stray so sadly we have no information on her history.
Re-homing Criteria
Frankie loves people and loves a fuss so a home where she will get lots of attention would be great. She would love a secure garden for zoomies and she very much enjoys getting out and about on walks.

Breed: Arlo
Sex: Male
Age: 6 months
Key information: Friendly boy, can live with children 14 years or over, could possibly live with another similar dog, not good with cats.
Arlo is a friendly and happy boy who is a lot of fun. Sadly he hasn’t had much training and has learnt to jump up and be very selective in when he wants to listen to you. However he is a very clever dog and when focused he does his best to please you.
Arlo loves to play, tug, its his favorite, he enjoys running around the garden with his toys and will happily parade them for you once he has caught them. Arlo is a water baby, whether its a paddling pool, river or lake he will go for a quick dip, fetch his toys or cool off.
Arlo is looking for an active home with people who enjoy training a dog and could invest time and patience in to teaching Arlo basic manners but also some valuable life skills. Arlo has only lived in a house for a short time and during this time he loved his home comforts and is happy to lap up attention and cuddles. New owners would need to be at home most of the day to help him settle in to a good routine.
When out on walks Arlo will happily meet friendly dogs, he can get over excited and wants to play, and if this isn’t possible he can easily become frustrated and become vocal. He is currently learning how to cope with this frustration, and making good progress.
Arlo is a smart boy and has a lovely nature, he does need a lot of 1-2-1 training but once you have put in the hard work he will repay you with loyalty, trust and lots of love.
if you think you could offer Arlo a home, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Breed: Lady
Sex: Female
Age: 3 years
Key information: Calm girl who is very friendly and sweet. She does not need a lot of exercise, a garden is a must, can live with children over the age of 12 years old and could possibly live with another dog.
Lady is a sweet, affectionate girl who adores attention, a cosy bed, and simply being by your side. She arrived at Borders Pet Rescue as a stray, so we don’t know much about her past – but what we do know is that she is an absolute star in the office! Lady is happiest when curled up nearby, contentedly snoozing (with the occasional snore!) while you go about your day.
Lady does have some health issues caused by irresponsible breeding. Her very short nose makes breathing difficult, especially in the heat or during exercise. Because of this, she prefers short potters close to home or gentle wanders around the garden. She’s not a dog who enjoys long walks, and she’ll be happiest in a calm environment with minimal physical demands.
Lady also suffers from a condition called entropion, where her eyelashes grow inwards toward her eyes. Thankfully, this can be corrected with surgery, and Borders Pet Rescue will cover the full cost of this operation.
Lady is looking for a quiet, loving home with:
Minimal stairs
A secure garden where she can safely explore
Kind, understanding owners who will cherish her for who she is
She may not be the most energetic dog, but she more than makes up for it in love and loyalty. Lady is gentle, soulful, and incredibly easy to care for. She walks beautifully on the lead, enjoys human company, and always tries her best to please.
She’s searching for someone special who can see beyond her physical challenges and appreciate the truly beautiful soul within. If you’re looking for a devoted, low-maintenance companion who will fill your home with warmth and quiet affection, Lady might just be the perfect match for you.
if you think you could offer Lady a home, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Dogs - Friendly with dogs on walks. Needs more socialisation with dogs in the home and off lead.
Needs to be neutered this will be done once a foster is found as it will be more peaceful for him to heal and have someone watch him.
Tucker was pulled from the pound by the rescue! He is in a bit off rough shape as his hair is thin and like straw, he's also a little lean.
He is just a loveable puppy there is not an aggressive bone in his body, he's just been through a lot and needing to gain his confidence back!
He has been working with the staff in the kennels who are mainly female and has got more confident with females now. He will need kind men in his life to help him gain confidence with them. He currently just shies away and looks to the people he trusts.
Tucker will need a fosterer that is experienced with nervous dogs who can provide him with training for the nervousness and healthy boundaries towards other dogs as he still doesn't have basic training.
